a coal conveyor that was repainted due to corrosion

PAINTING PROCESS

This coal conveyor’s protective coating system was failing and chipping off. The customer contracted us to remove the old coating, and paint with a new coating to protect the steel.

First we pressure washed the structure to remove the corrosion and the loose layer of lead-based paint. We then hand-tool cleaned, and spot primed with Sherwin Williams Macropoxy 646. Lastly, we sprayed on a top coat of DTM Acrylic in Red Oxide color.

We also painted a small building near the conveyor, as well as other miscellaneous handrails and steps in the area. Some of this conveyor we had to use lifts and the rest we were able to access from walkways. This job was completed on straight time per request from the customer.
